“Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” – Galatians 6:2.

FCC Plano is a Stephen Ministry campus!

On Sunday, May 15th 2016, five new Stephen Ministers were commissioned. We praise God for this! The Stephen Ministry is designed to provide in-depth and long-term counseling support. Care receivers are able to share their struggles with someone who is committed to listening with love and acceptance. They have been trained to use uniquely Christian tools with sensitivity and patience to bring Christ’s love into a place of pain.
If you believe you know someone who may benefit from Stephen Ministry, please pray about whether God is leading you to talk to them about it. If the person is interested in receiving a Stephen Minister, the next step is to contact Pastor Doug and share the need with him. He will then contact that person to provide them with more information about this ministry.
As part of the Vision projects of FCC, the ministry goal for 2015-2016 is to re-establish the Stephen Ministry within this church. The Stephen Ministry is a program that utilizes members of the congregation who have received special training to be involved in one-on-one ministry. Through this training, these members become Stephen Ministers and are able to offer high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people in the congregation and others in the community who are struggling through a difficult time in life. A Stephen Minister usually provides care to one person at a time, meeting with that person once a week for about an hour, twice a month, Stephen Ministers gather with their Stephen Leaders for supervision and continuing education.
In the following weeks, we will be providing more information about this ministry during our Sunday services and our Sunday school classes. If you want to make a difference in someone’s life, and nurture and use your spiritual gifts, start praying about this ministry to see if God is guiding you to be part of it.
