HEIFER INTERNATIONAL FCC Plano has committed to participate in the Living Ark program through Heifer International. This is a $5000 commitment that will provide 2 of fifteen different animals for families around the world. Heifer International is an organization that is dedicated to ending poverty and hunger worldwide. The Living Ark program will involve the whole church including young children. Each family will receive a calendar and an ark bank. Families will have an opportunity to learn about families in Third World countries and how Heifer's work enables families to improve nutrition for the whole family. Heifer doesn't feed families. It helps families feed themselves. The focus is on self-reliance, empowering families to rise from poverty and despair to hope and prosperity. Whether ducks or water buffalo, rabbits or llamas; Heifer families receive the practical means and the training that can truly make a difference. Heifer is making a difference, one family at a time.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY FCC Plano is hoping to be a part of helping to build a Habitat house in the metroplex area. The Outreach Ministry team is currently seeking to gain commitments from other Christian churches who would be willing to support this effort, with contributions and volunteer labor. This effort is being planned and organized now with hopes of beginning construction some time in 2011.
MISSION TRIP--ECUADOR Plans are being made for a mission trip to Ecuador in August of 2011. Our group would be working with Disciples' missionary Vic Vaca, who has served the people of Ecuador for over 25 years. The mission trip will focus its work on three areas:
- A construction team that will help a small church enlarge its building
- Medical teams that would serve the indigenous Indian people of Ecuador
- A VBS team that would conduct a program for children
|
| This trip will offer an opportunity to serve those in need and to reflect the love of Christ in ways that can be very meaningful. |
