Sunday School classes are divided into Chi Rho (6-8th grade) and CYF (9-12th grade) classes. We are taking a look at the Scripture verses accompanying the Sermon. The goal is that youth will be able to leave church on Sunday and answer the question, "What did you learn today?" Youth have a better chance of being able to retain the information if they have the opportunity to interact with the Scripture in different ways (i.e. listening in church, discussing and asking questions in Sunday School).
Chi-Rho Youth meetings on Sunday evenings begin with a meal provided by parents of youth and youth sponsors, followed by a rotation of events throughout the month. Each weekly meeting offers different activities, with one week a month being a large youth fellowship (middle school and high school combined). Two weeks are centered around discussion, and a special Sunday evening or weekend in which we have an outing. Outings might include a service project with the local food pantry, or a fun trip to the zoo!
Know Where You Come From - Fall 2016
We are going to spent the entire fall semester on this first section of the study. Students will spend 12 weeks working through the metanarrative (the big picture of the Bible). In order to understand their faith today and who they are as Christians, students need to have strong understanding of where that faith comes from. By studying the Bible as one coherent story they will be able to better understand God, who Christ is, and consequently the heart of Christianity.
Know Who You Are - Spring 2017
This section is the first part of the spring semester. We are going to be taking a look at the modern, global church; as well as the Disciples of Christ specifically. Students will have the opportunity to learn about topics such as baptism and communion. We will also be looking at FCC Plano, what our mission and vision are, what makes us unique as a church.
